Perfect Binding Tutorial

I’ve been getting into making my own notebooks, journals, and mini-books lately. If you're new to bookbinding and want an easy entry point, this is a great place to start. It walks you through making your own perfect-bound, hardcover notebook step-by-step — no sewing required, just glue, paper, and a little patience. It's a great weekend project, and honestly kind of satisfying to hold a book you made completely from scratch.

This one's a step up in difficulty — there's sewing involved, and it takes a little trial and error to get the tension and rhythm right. But the payoff is worth it: Coptic binding gives you an open spine that lets the book lay completely flat, which is such a nice feature if you actually plan to write or draw in it. It also looks beautiful with the stitching exposed. Give yourself some patience (and maybe a practice run) with this one. (I’m still figuring it out)
